Movie magic

Kat Stratford: I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots, and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick; it even makes me rhyme. I hate it, I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it when you're not around, and the fact that you didn't call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.

43 things... the coolest website!

I found this awesome website www.43things.com

What do you want to do with your life? Here you can record your goals and progress and see what everyone else is doing, and who has the same goals as you...

1,638,798 people in 15,032 cities are doing 1,374,738 things

  • Write down your goals

  • Get Inspired

  • Share your progress

Really fun and really awesome to see that there are so many people out there with similar goals! You can browse goals and comment and give tips if you have already done that, or add it to your goals. You have space for 43!

Not all have to be landmark, taking over the world, save the whales goals... but no harm in having a few of those! Simple small changes, waking up earlier, finding out the colour of your aura, paying off debt, travelling to Mozambique, buying a puppy, learning to play an instrument.... Makes them far easier to achieve when shared... I think!

things i learnt this weekend

* failure is only failure if u don't learn the lesson presented to you
* cupcakes are heavenly ~ found the cutest cupcake shop in Parkhurst
* my best friends are all blonde ... hmmm (i'm a brunette)
* it's not worth it to have negative people in your space by choice - just let go
* beauty is all around us, just look around and see, don't just look
* everyone has a story - let's not judge too quickly
* going to watch the rugby at the stadium with friends is fun, even if you don't know the rules

* tap water is better ~ bottled water is a thousand times more expensive than tap water, creates mountains of needless garbage, contributes to environmental problems, and isn't healthier than tap water... rather by a filter for your home!

4 life principles

Let your wisdom as a human being connect with the power of things as they are. There is no fundamental separation or duality between you and your world.

There is some principle of magic in everything, some living quality. Something living, something real is talking place in everything that surrounds us.

Don't go through life searching for that which is around you for happiness, when all you need in fact is within you. Follow your intuition and be guided by your truth.

The very moment is always the occasion. Be present in every situation. Living in the past or in the future will only take away from the joy of living in the moment.

for today...

decide to be happy...

to live with what
is yours
your family, your business, your job, your friends, yourself

if you can't have what you like
maybe you can like what you have

just for today

be kind

be cheerful

be grateful
be caring

be understanding

be present
be your best

dress your best

talk softly
be gentle
be gracious

look for the bright side of things

praise people for what they do

and don't criticize them for what they cannot do

if someone does something stupid

forgive and forget
after all
it's just for one day
who knows
it might turn out to be a great one

every dew drop has heaven in it

I love beautiful pictures... I feel inspired, I see life in perspective and for a moment I escape the concrete jungle and reality... so I thought I'd share these with you... the pics below are refractive macro-photographs, theme'd around dew drops...

The pics, photograph and photographer info can be found on scienceray, which I read about on astropixie's blogg!

This is my favourite one:

"In Greek mythology, Ersa is the goddess of Dew. She is the daughter of Zeus and Eos, the goddess of the dawn. Eos would rise each morning to greet Helios, the god of the sun. She would open the gates of heaven for him so he could ride across the sky."

"The surface tension of water is such that small creatures, like the Gnat above, can become trapped in a single droplet. They may drown but there is always hope that the plant will transpire more water or further dew will form, making the droplet roll and splash, so releasing its unwilling captive."

13 things I learnt this week

  • True friends are those that tell you you're beautiful even when you're crying
  • Happiness is only real when shared
  • Hot chocolate is good medicine
  • Red nail polish is the best colour for toes
  • Missing someone you care about is awesome and aweful at the same time
  • Doing the simpler things in life is sometimes the most fun
  • Have faith ~ believe that it is possible... and you will begin to change the reality around you
  • Learn from the challenges life puts in front of you, or else it will just keep teaching you until you've learnt
  • True devotion only appears when we have a desire which we will risk everything to achieve
  • True love can withstand seperation
  • Meditation is the key to knowledge - quietening your mind and listening
  • Who you think you are and who you truly are can be different
  • If you pay attention to each day, you will realise that its a moment of magic

to buy or not to buy - now there's a question!

to buy or not to buy... to be or not to be...

I've been inspired by
Miss Caught Up with her new blog about curbing the big spend! I'm following her journey closely, as I too have become a consumer that is suckered by good advertising and packaging and clever marketing ploys. I often find myself having purchased something completely unecessary on an impulse of I JUST HAVE TO HAVE THOSE!

If we look at what we have, what we want and what we need, I think for me personally I will make better decisions about what to buy or not to buy! What is necessary and what can seriously wait.

I have also put together a one year budget!!! so that I can pay off my debt and see where I spend my money. It's great to have a plan, so I can see where I'm headed, and when I am in the shoe shop, with the perfect pair of shoes glistening on my feet I can make a conscious purchasing decision. Knowing that I have a plan will remind me not to make an impulsive purchase which I will later regret!

This has also given me the space to look at my life and how much I waste, and how much of what I have defines who I am. What is perhaps more important is who I am as a person, to treat myself and people around me with respect... to inspire others, to be kind to the environment, to enjoy the sunshine on my face or the wind in my hair... and to appreciate and be greatful for what I have! That is being... what you have does not define who you are - who you are, is far more than that! Yes, having gadgets, and pretty things definately makes the journey more fun, but everything within perspective... umm... and budget! :)

It is important to BE so that you can DO and then you will HAVE! Rather than having, so that you can do and then be. If you can't BE, then in fact, you HAVE nothing!

love...

The irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired

Change & Renewal

Spring is a great time of year when we can take a lesson from nature and make changes in our lives – we've just gone through our winter and now for the rewards!

Call it self-renewal after pruning – letting go of our ‘leaves’ and old branches, and letting go of baggage and things that we use to hide ourselves from the world with. When you do that, you give the universe a chance to deliver the 'flowers' that is waiting to blosson!

It's good to stand free, open and ‘exposed’ so that WE can take a look at who we have become in the last while, how we have changed and grown in the past season of our lives, and enjoy those changes.

Spring is a time of celebration of life, of new exciting opportunities, changes, friends, and all sorts of things just waiting to happen!

Tips for Life Changes

  • Focus on what you want, not on what you don't want.
  • Have an attitude of gratitude.
  • See the big picture and keep your eyes on it - stop looking for those painful boulders that may get in the way. (Keep your eye on the donut, not on the hole.)
  • Create a plan for the change and work that plan.
  • Watch what you say - words are powerful messengers that will race out and will bring to you exactly what you request.
  • Choose what you are focusing on and thinking about. If you don't like the picture that you are seeing, pick up the remote control and change the channel to a more pleasant and satisfying picture.
  • Don’t sweat the small stuff.
  • Will power is not the major ingredient when successfully changing an aspect of your life, but a decision and commitment to yourself are.
  • Don't be an excusiologist (someone who has a Ph.D. in excuse making). There may be legitimate reasons, but there are no excuses...
  • There is no try – you either do or you don’t – and YOU CAN do anything you want to!
  • Don’t define yourself by your work success, your relationship, your friends, your status or your body! You are so much more!
  • Don’t focus too much on the HOW! Focus on what you want and the rest will take care of itself.
  • We will make a change in our lives for one of two reasons: to avoid pain or to gain pleasure. Which one is it for you? Have you experienced enough pain yet?
  • Enjoy life. It doesn’t wait for you to get up and keep going ~ This is life now… don’t waste a moment.
  • Love yourself… because if you cannot love who you are, you cannot expect others to love you.
  • Take 15 minutes each day to be quiet, to clear your mind and meditate.

make space in your life...

Letting go of friends and clearing out objects and all things that no longer serve a positive purpose in your life, makes space for new, beautiful and positive things and people! The universe is rising up to meet you wherever you are! Make place in your life for everything that you deserve!

come to the edge...

Come to the edge.
We might fall.

Come to the edge.
It's too high!

And they came
and he pushed

and they flew ...

~ Guillaume Apollinaire

embrace abundance

“You simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given you.”

- Sarah Ban Breathnach

the world within you...

When you discover the world within you,
You will discover the world around you.

a new day

This is the beginning of a new day.
You have been given this day to use as you will.
You can waste it, or use it for good.
What you do today is important because
you are exchanging a day of your life for it.
When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever;
in its place is something taht you have left behind...
let it be something good.

current addictions

Forgive me father... for I have sinned...

My addictions include 6 fabulous things that so make me smile:

~ My cats: Yes, I am a scary cat person. Deal with it. I love my cats. They're adorable, they are the best company when I'm alone at home, and they are a laugh to watch, chasing invisible mice and wrestling with each other. They look at me with the most curious expressions sometimes... my life would not be complete without them.

~ Eat, Pray, Love: by Elizabeth Gilbert. An amazing book, easy to read, hilariously funny with lessons and stories that are so reflective of times in my own life. Life simply explained along the structure of the jap mala (prayer beads) - 108 strung together, with the 109th bead strung outside the circle. There are 3 countries she visits, Italy, India and Indoneasia, each with 36 stories... she takes you through her journey and you feel like you are part of every moment... such a good read!

~ Jozi - city of Gold: I have been living in Joburg for 6 weeks now. I love it. I love the people, the vibe, my job, the business, the hussle and bussle, Rosebank Mall, Zoo lake, driving and getting so lost, the hazy sky, side walk cafes, all the trees, the guy that plays guitar where I pay for parking, my room- it's my sanctuary, my flat mate - she's funny, supportive and so level headed, the warm weather, the Vida E walking distance from my office, the dinner club I belong to, the BluesRoom comedy night, and the new adventures that lie ahead of me.

~ SEO - search engine optimization: My job. That's what I do. I am an SEO and network marketing specialist. There is so much to learn about online marketing and how it all works, and how there is SO much life and community in a space that doesn't really exist. Connecting people, meeting people and keeping abreat of all the changes and new networks and stuff (love the technical word) out there!

~ My girlfriend: She is amazing. She loves me, and I love her. She is the epitomy of inner strength and she has taught me so much about me. To be strong, to stand for what I believe in, to not let people take advatage of me, to take a closer look at who my true friends are, to have self respect and to be loved... and I love the way she says blodge instead of blog... he he hee

~ Meditating: It keeps me sane. I can quieten my mind, breathe, listen and grow. Daily, I give myself permission to receive my highest good.
