self esteem check
The quest for success is generally driven by what we perceive the world expects from us. In short, our paradigm for success vests with others rather than being part of who we are. How can we ever be happy when we are motivated by the opinions of others, rather than a sense of self-worth? Such thinking is a slavery or a bondage rather than an expression of self.

Your self esteem is not eroded by what others say to you, but by what you say to yourself, when the other person has walked away.
Yup yup yup! This aspect has been on my mind a lot recently. Letting go of what others think of you but more importantly what you think others think about you. For years, I thought I didn't care. I have recently decided I am still guided by all of this. And I cannot wait till I achieve the freedom that comes from not caring or being guided by what I think others think of me, and what others do think of me.
That does sound about right.
Deep stuff. You make a good point with that last bit about what you think when the other person has walked away.
thanks for the comments - it's not always easy, but we often have to watch our "self talk", as that causes more pain than what other say to us sometimes...
